They've set a date!

We just got the discharge packet today. Cris took the brief 30 minute CPR class today and I will take the 2 and half hour one this Thursday.

Tomorrow they will do the car seat test. Eric will need to be able to handle it for an hour. Long enough for us to get home in bad traffic without any extreme desatting and that sort of thing. We will also be talking to the pulmonary specialists tomorrow after Eric receives a blood gas and a lung exam. They will determine what level of oxygen flow Eric will go home with and whether or not he goes home with an apnea monitor. Cris and I will need to take classes for both. We have already watched the Baby Care Basics video. They also want us to watch the Don't Shake Your Baby video, but I am opting out of that one. It is very sad and graphic. Besides, only a horrible, stupid moron would shake their baby. That is neither Cris nor I.

Next is the rooming in. We will be fighting over the room this weekend as other parents are preparing to leave also. So, if all goes well (fingers, legs and eyes crossed!), Eric should be coming home sometime next week! We have everything ready for him when he comes home. Just need the baby to make everything complete.

Keep in mind, that we will be getting used to having this new little person around 24/7. We will need our rest. While we welcome your well wishes and congratulations, please wait at least 2 weeks before we resurface again. Also, we are not allowing visitors for a long period of time. Our biggest concern is Eric's continued well-being. His health is still very fragile. We have seen other babies return to NICU, or the PICU downstairs, and we would like to avoid that scenario. Thank you for your understanding.
