Little Wookie Baby
Between a Wookie and a Squeaker toy
Eric is turning out to be a very vocal little boy. He makes the cutest sounds. If he is not making wookie noises, he is squeaking. Seriously, squeaks. He is such an adorable slice of awesomeness.
On Being A Human Mattress
While Eric was in the hospital, we held him constantly. It got to the point that if he heard me near him and I wasn't picking him up, he would cry until I did. Now that he is home, he expects to be held 24/7. Woe be it for us to decide otherwise.
This is usually not a problem, we love to hold him, unless we are trying to get some sleep. Luckily, Cris had bought a LaZ Boy rocker/recliner while I was still pregnant. We take shifts during the night holding DS in our arms and sleeping in the LaZ Boy. We are trying to get him to sleep in his cosleeper or bassinet, but it is a slow process. He is a high needs baby, probably from spending so much time in NICU.
Someone mentioned the other day to do the CIO method (Cry It Out), but the pediatrician has told us not to let him cry for more than 5 minutes. Plus Eric is on oxygen and that would not be a good idea. Better for Cris and I to go without sleep, than have Eric get sick because he isn't getting enough oxygen.
Medical Issues
Eyes: The eye doctor is thinking that Eric will not be needing eye surgery. The left is still not doing well, but the right is already starting to heal.
Oxygen: Unfortunately, Eric did not fly when we took him off the oxygen at the pulmonologist's office. His oxygen did get reduced to 1/16 from 1/4. We will see the pulmonologist again in a month.
Weight: Eric now weighs 8 lbs and 1 oz.
Other: Eric did get a stomach bug that lasted a couple of days. Both the Home Health Nurse and his doctor said it was just something that was going around and nothing to worry about. Eric got a little bit dehydrated since he didn't want to eat, but after a few bottles of Pedialyte, he was back to his usual self.
We will be getting a development nurse soon to show us how to help Eric with his developmental issues.
Cats
They still have no idea what to make of him. But they have accepted him. Or are at least ignoring him.
