3 Steps Forward, 1 Step Back
First the good news:
Eric is doing wonderfully well. He is hitting all of his milestones and is only slightly below on some. He is almost walking on his own which is right on schedule for his adjusted age (10 months now). He will only crawl if he is on the bed and there is a kitty to chase. He still hates to crawl, preferring to stand. We set up a play area around the couch and he uses the edges to pull himself up and for balance while walking with one hand.
We got a little pool and he has been playing in it. Eric has a little floaty thing that he sits in. He uses it to run from one side of the pool to the other. Very cute.
Weight is still progressing as it should. Last week he was at 23 lbs.
Bad news:
There is a tear in his nissen (the surgery he had to keep him from throwing up so much) and we may need to have another surgery. The problem is the hyperactive gag reflex. It needs to be fixed. We have been having some problems with the state regarding this. We were dropped from the program, added to a new program, dropped, added, dropped...until it has been finally resolved. We are still waiting to hear back from them. The state programs will cover many expenses that the insurance doesn't. This would include the $200/hr feeding specialist.
At this point, Eric is not eating anything solid and will often refuse the bottle. We have to put most of it down his feeding tube. We are also adding cereal and Stage 1 foods down it. The doctor said not to worry about food allergies at this point since neither of us have anything serious.
Other than the food issues, Eric is doing so much better than expected. His doctors are very pleased with his progress and no new issues have arisen (knock on wood). The food aversion is the last known hurdle to overcome.

I just went back and reread this and I am amazed at his weight. Kellen is only 21. 22 tops. I'm going to have to start getting Eric's hand me downs now. :-)
Eric is wearing 12-18 month sizes now. We have a whole pile of the smaller sizes if you want them!
Kellen still has some 9mo he wears. For the most part, he is in 12mo because he needs the length but they are baggy. I have so many cute shorts I want to put him in but they fall off his butt. I hope he fits into them before summer is over. :-)
