Eric had a double hernia surgery today. There were some minor complications, but nothing too serious. He is currently recovering and sedated. Because of the sedation, Eric will be intubated until he can can recover, either today or tomorrow. As a general rule, if a baby has to be under anesthesia, they intubate them.

They told us about the surgery on Sunday and told us he would be having it on Friday. They were able to up the schedule and get it started today at about 7:30 am and finished about 1 hour and 45 minutes later.

No mentions when Eric is coming home. From the way they were talking about him in rounds this morning, it will be at least another week before they even think about it. I'm guessing they want to make sure all is well after the surgery. The doctor did mention that after Eric recovers, he can go to infant-led feedings. Instead of limiting his food to certain amounts, currently 50 ccs, Eric can eat as much as he wants.
