Yes We Can, Yes We Did

Yes We Can, Yes We Did. I love this saying. It is everything from last year in one tidy little phrase. 2008 was truly a year for amazing accomplishments, everything from miracle children who beat the odds to the first black president. I know Eric will not remember this day, but I will. I will remember as a time for renewed hope in the toughest of times.
It is hard to know what the future will bring. Mr. President Obama gave a great speech. Here's to hoping he can fix the mess we're in. In the future, Eric will think of Obama the way prior generations think of MLK. It took so many dreams, and an awe-inspiring courage on the part of so many, for Obama to get here. Even if Obama were to fail miserably (let's all pray that he doesn't), he gave so many so much to believe in and began the process of bringing this country back to its original greatness.
Squee: I loved the Inauguration Dance. It is so refreshing and inspiring to see a couple so much in love with each other. Beyonce did such an amazing job singing At Last, I almost forgave her for not being Etta James. Almost.
Here's to hope. May we always have it. Here's to the new President, his beautiful wife and two darling daughters. Here's to everyone who believes in miracles. I know I do, because I am holding mine.
